European National Championships before Bucharest meet
23 women and 51 men participated in the National Finnish Championships in Tampere. The nominees for the European Championships 2009 in Bucharest demonstrated good form.
Heidi Harju achieved the highest women’s result with 226.21 points ahead of Anna Everi with 219.34 points and Jenni Puputti with 210.37 points. The best male lifter was Antti Everi with 344.23 points, followed by Miika Antti-Roiko with 363.49 points and Toni Lintula with 360.08 points.
The Italian Championships were held at Fondazione M. Bentegodi Sports Centre in Verona. Italy’s weightlifting lady no. 1, Genny Caterina Pagliaro, could not perform because of bad stomach. Altogether 36 women and 55 men participated. The best results were achieved by Annarosa Campaldini with 211.3 points in the women’s competition and Olympic participant Giorgio de Luca with 389.9 points in the men’s.
