World champion Yang Fan wins gold in 62kg at Chinese National Game
World champion Yang Fan returned to his best form to win the gold medal in the men’s 62kg division at the 11th Chinese National Games.
Yang of Hunan, world champion in the 2007 Worlds, hoisted 149kg in the snatch and jerked 177kg to level the world record with a total of 326kg.
The world record of the total in this category was set by his compatriot Zhang Jie in the Asian Championships in 2008.
The 22-year-old Yang suffered shoulder injuries since 2007 and did not show up in the Olympics.
Ding Jianjun of Fujian clinched silver at 326kg and the bronze was collected by Qiu Le of Guangxi at 315kg.
